Biography

“You have to hear this voice,” said Jodi D., a Melheim family friend, as they chowed down on chilli in her garage last Halloween. “She’s only 20, but she’s been singing with her sisters forever and she’s going to go someplace.”

With that, Jodi dragged Rich Melheim into her kitchen and played a tape of Lauren Redpath. Ten songs a lot of fun later, Lauren is Faith Inkubators’ Artist of the Month.

A little bit country and a little bit rock ‘n roll (okay, a lot of country), Lauren graduated from Music Tech College in Minneapolis in December. She sings, writes, and has the pipes and polish of a Nashville pro. Not bad for a girl who grew up on White Bear Lake and is barely out of high school.

“Lauren’s voice on Salt of the Earth reminds me of a young Amy Grant,” says Melheim. “On Magnificat, one of the songs for this coming GIFT Advent, she sounds like an angel. And on Word in My Heart… well, she’s all Lauren.”

She has now recorded with three of FINK’s engineer/arrangers for the new Faith Stepping Stones CDs. Rick Barron (currently on tour with Jonny Lang), Todd Ernster of the Killer Hayseeds, and Tony Axtell all love working with her. This month Faith Inkubators introduced Lauren’s voice to Guy Mahmarian of Vision Van Gogh Music. He took eight of her newly-recorded FINK songs immediately to Nashville to spread it around.

“We’re hoping to help her get some air time, an agent, and a contract. She’s amazing and we’d be proud to be able to say we helped her in some small-way someday,” says Melheim.

“ I am so grateful for the opportunity to work with Faith Inkubators,” says Lauren. “It’s such a privilege to work with people like Rich, Todd, Tony and Rick. Thanks for everything you’ve done for me.”

Lauren’s dreams? “I’d love to do a Christian tour. I also love country, pop, and rock. In the future I would love to tour with original songs/Christian/country etc... I’m working/gigging with a couple different bands currently and writing in my spare time.

Listen and see if you don’t agree. Lauren is going somewhere.

Music clips of Lauren's music will be available soon.
