Guilds + Lili Yu

Biography

*She spent the late 70s in Tibet.

*She spent the last few years as voice coach to the four girls who won the national voice competition out of a billion people.

*She has planned, choreographed, and directed 20 regional and national televised concerts – one of them with a 10,000 voice choir.

*She just changed her name to Lili.

*And she’s living in Faith Inkubators CCO Rich Melheim’s house while he’s in Colorado on sabbatical.

Yu Hua (a.k.a. Lili Yu as of this week) was born in Shanghai in the early 50s. A graduate of Nanjing Normal University and the Shanghai Music Institute, Lili spent from 1976 – 1982 as professor of the Normal University of Tibet (now Tibetian University), before accepting her present job at the Nanjing City Cultural Arts Center.

At the center she teaches music, coaches voice, and creates city festivals, celebrations and regional and national television specials.

Lili, the wife of Faith Inkubators’ resident artist, Dr. He Qi, came to America in May 2004 to help her son, Song Yang, start a year of high school and prepare for entrance into American college life.

At Faith Inkubators, Lili has just finished translating fifteen of our Bible Song Sunday School songs into Mandarin. She recently returned to China to escape the Minnesota winter and record the first four of our 120 pieces in Chinese at Nanjing Normal University with the famous Professor Su and some of her award-winning voices.

Rich Melheim has hopes of bringing some of these singers to the USA on a cultural tour to sing their traditional folk songs, as well as new Bible Song Sunday School music.

Listen to "Make Me To Know Your Ways" (Psalm 25:4–7) in Mandarin, and you’ll know why we are proud to announce Lili Yu as our Faith Inkubators Music Guild Musician of the Month.
