Vision:
To foster a Christian community through planning and coordinating holistic and intergenerational relationships through fellowship, worship, learning and service. To implement processes that will equip young people, families and adults to strengthen their commitment to the church and growth in faith in Jesus Christ.

Desired Outcomes:

•Families live and celebrate baptism every day.
•Children and Youth are valued as a vitally important part of the body of Christ.
•Congregation equips all adults to nurture faith in children and youth.
•Families know God’s grace and love, and live with hope as God’s children.
•Children and youth have faith, which guides them in decisions and choices.
•Children, youth and adults discover and strengthen their gifts as Disciples of Christ and are given purposeful opportunities to use them.
•Children and youth are supported along the various milestones of their faith journey by a network of significant people of all ages, including peers, family members, congregation member and others.

Tasks and Innovations:

Children’s Ministries
The CYFEM will coordinate the Christian Education programs of Hope Lutheran’s children including but not limited to:

•Kids of the Kingdom (preschool-grade 4)
•Vacation Bible School (preschool – grade 4)
•Summer Camp Opportunities
•Family, fellowship and service activities

He/She will need to guide and advise these programs through recruiting of volunteers, assisting in curriculum selection, and promoting educational and recreational opportunities.

The CYFEM will assist with the coordination and teaching of confirmation, first communion and any other Milestones of Faith programming at Hope Lutheran.

The CYFEM will encourage and coordinate parental and adult involvement in the youth programs of Hope Lutheran. He/She will facilitate additional opportunities for parents and adults to gather together for mutual support and education.

Youth Ministries
The CYFEM will coordinate the Christian Education programs of Hope Lutheran’s youth including, but not limited to:

•5th and 6th grade education and fellowship
•7th and 8th grade education and fellowship
•High School education and fellowship
•Mission Trip
•Family, fellowship and service activities
•Over see the coordination of special programs such as lock-inn’s, camp-outs, sporting events, concerts etc.
•Encourage participation in bible camps and Peer Ministry.
•Over see the coordination and planning of activities available at conferences, synodical and church-wide levels
•Oversee the coordination of fundraising activities

Adult Education

The CYFEM will coordinate the Christian Education programs of Hope Lutheran’s adult’s including, but not limited to:

•Sunday Morning (Forums, table talks etc.)
•Special interest classes and seminars
•Bible Studies
•Small Group activities
•Parent and Caregiver education and support

General Responsibilities

•Attendance expected at BOYEM meetings
•Oversee and track the financial budget for board approved funds in Youth, Family and Educational Ministries

Qualities and Requirements:

•A commitment to Jesus Christ.
•A Bachelor’s degree is preferred but not required.
•Training, or willingness to receive training through the Youth and Family Institute.
•Demonstrates leadership and organizational skills.
•An ability to identify and foster leadership in adults and youth.
•Relational skills with youth, parents, staff and community.
•Display a personal aptitude for spiritual growth, emotional, social and physical wellness.
•An attitude of flexibility and adaptability in then face of the changing moods, schedules, plans, and direction common to working with youth and parents.
•A resilient and preserving spirit that is not easily discouraged or frustrated contributes to stability and longevity in this position.
•A sense of humor and an energetic, caring, open-minded personality are also very helpful.
•Program, planning and implementation skills.
•Financial management skills.

Director of Youth and Family Ministries

All Saints is located on the West side of Albuquerque and worships an average of 200 disciples per week.

We are on the edge of a new era in youth ministry and are looking for an innovative individual who is able to motivate people in ministry. The potential for growth in our congregation as well as the community of Albuquerque is exciting and it is time we recognized that Christ calls us to a holistic approach to youth and family ministry.

This job position includes but is not limited to these tasks and innovations:

Oversee the Christian Education of all youth grades K-12 on Sunday mornings
*Recruit, organize and train a group of volunteer teachers for Sunday School programs
*Choose curriculum for Sunday School
*Oversee special programs such as holiday festivals, retreats and summer programs

Hold weekly meetings for high school and junior high youth
*These may be separate occurrences or combined as needed
*The purpose of these meetings will be for worship, music, fellowship and fun.

Plan intergenerational activities at least once a month or as agreed upon with supervisor
*Research, promote and encourage family Bible devotions
*Oversee the spiritual development for all ages within families

Manage fundraisers for youth group and for community programs

Provide youth and families opportunities for community outreach
*Coordinate and plan mission trips out of state
*Seek out volunteer opportunities within Albuquerque
