HEAD TO THE HEART

This is our first year using Head to the Heart for our two-year confirmation program - and we are loving it! - Rev. Patricia Hayes - Christ Congregational (UCC) - Brockton, MA

Head to the Heart + Testimonials

You might not hear this enough - this is a great, and I mean great program. We have had to expand our whole Junior Ministry here at First Church because it works. This was our first year of having youth inviting friends to confirmation! Thanks for this stuff, it works - now just come out with a Living Methodist book - it is hard enough being Methodist in the land of Luther! Great work!

Regarding the "Bring it on Home" mission: I have rarely felt as strongly as I do now about this being the right focus. I know without a doubt that my main ministry at Faith Lutheran is to the parents. I feel it more strongly than ever.

I am so excited to start. I checked out the PowerPoint presentation, and all I can say is YAAAAAH! The color is so exciting and the songs look like music videos without people! I love the new slide designs. Who designed all that? Impressive.

This is our first year using Head to the Heart for our two-year confirmation program, and we are loving it! The kids were taken with the journals and PowerPoint from the start – the music, the “high-low” check-in, the quiz bowl, and perhaps most especially the role plays have completely engaged our 9th and 10th graders and open the conversation. I’m sure we are only using a fraction of the program’s potential, but it is a big hit. Content plus curb appeal – we are looking forward to year two!

H2H has been a real success at Family of Christ. Our teachers enjoy teaching the material and the youth look forward to coming each week. Thanks for all you do to assist us in ministry.

As part of the “life-line” section of Head to the Heart, we’ve had parents talk about how important church and prayer were to their family when they lost jobs; we had a retired general come in and talk about how he went through confirmation in Viet Nam; we had a gentleman come in and talk about how his participation in church enhanced his relationship with his parents when he got older. These stories are what bring the Bible to life for the kids as well as for the adults in the room. The Bible is no longer 2000 years old!

We are very impressed with the curriculum and excited to get it started.

Tonight was our first theme event. The PowerPoint stuff worked great, timings were right on, and everything was great.

I think the kids are a bit shocked, and I was surprised at how long it took them to warm up, but I think everyone was blessed in some way. I will personally never forget the change in the face of the kid I blessed tonight.

Thank you for changing my life, and the world around me. Keep up the excellent work. Run! You will not tire!

After four years here, we have families joining, kids bringing their friends (even if it’s only once), and kids saying, “Why can’t we have H2H even though it’s a school holiday?” and kids saying, “Can we have H2H over the summer, too?”

OK, the kids are sold.

We had our first Theme Night of the year last night, using the "Stewardship of Time" as our opener. I have already received four e-mails, two telephone calls, and two personal visits from guides saying how much they love kicking off the year with the stewardship theme. Every one of these folks has said that the conversations in their small groups were deep. None of the kids wanted to go home. I didn’t do anything different in my presentation except add the "100 Years" song for discussion (they all sang along). I believe it was the materials. Nice job.

You’d have to be nuts not to do confirmation this way.

This is by far and away the most scriptural, effective, powerful way to do ministry to youth and families that I have ever come across.

Thank you for your support. It is incredible. Your product and organization is superb by any standards. Your company has the most responsive and helpful Customer Service department I have ever encountered.

I walk around the Fellowship Hall hearing bits of faith as they hang in the air from the small group discussions. It is the answer to a pastor’s prayer.

Some of the best testimony to the H2H approach can be heard in the Faith Statements written by our 9th graders as they prepare to affirm their faith. They are so good we print them in the newsletter and get requests for more.

I want to thank you and your entire staff for the excellent work you do in many areas, but in particular through the Head to the Heart confirmation curriculum which I am thrilled to be using this year. I had hoped to do this for some time, but the format change this year that allowed me to choose from all of the lessons on my own schedule rather than only having a particular year’s worth of themes available has made the difference.

We’ve been using H2H for six years, and when we started, we had about a 60% attendance rate for confirmation. With a new focus and system our attendance is well over 85%. Thanks again for all the hard work everyone at Faithink does for our families. It is making a huge difference in the lives of our congregation. We have more growing to do, but you guys have helped set us on the right path.

I’m just so glad that God led us to Head to the Heart. One of our new kids who hasn’t been connected to our church in the past said this at the end of the night: “That was awesome! This is the one [confirmation program] I want to stay with. I don’t want to go anywhere else.”

I’ve never heard such enthusiasm from these kids in the past. God is moving mightily at Redeemer Ministries.

I just finished a quick review of the new H2H stuff. I really like what you’ve done. It will take some time for us to digest some of the changes and figure out where to go from here, but you have stream-lined some of the things that were a little cumbersome. The Theme Power Point worked really well for me. Thanks for all your hard work!
